Each convex barrel board gate is custom-built to your exact width and height requirements, ensuring a perfect fit for your opening. The gate is constructed with a strong, fully framed design, using 4x2 timber for the horizontal rails and 3x2 timber for the vertical supports. This solid framework provides excellent stability and ensures there is ample space for securely fitting hinges, locks, and bolts.
The defining feature of this gate is its convex (arched) top, which creates a graceful curve that enhances the overall appearance of the gate. The height of the gate is measured from the bottom of the gate to the highest point of the arch. The curved top can also provide a little extra height where an existing fence may be slightly lower than desired.
The gate is clad with vertical barrel boards that follow the shape of the arch, creating a smooth and attractive finish. This style provides a solid and durable gate while still maintaining a traditional, decorative look.
Constructed from tanalised pressure-treated timber sourced from sustainable forests, the convex barrel board gate is designed to withstand the elements. The pressure treatment protects the timber from rot, decay, and pests, ensuring long-lasting durability and maintaining the gate’s strength and appearance for years to come.
All gates are made to the exact width and height you need.
To order firstly select the height you require.
Gates can be made lower than the height stated, so for example if you need a gate 160cm high- choose the 180cm height.
Then choose the width of gate you need.
Again gates can be made narrower than the width chosen, so for example if you need a gate 112cm wide- choose the 120cm width. Remember to take in account swing and hinge room. We recommend 15mm – 20mm.
Next select the hinge side, looking at the gate from the front. The hinge side determines the direction of the bracing at the back of the gate.
